Admission test registration for the 2017 – 2018 season is over.
The next set of entrance exams will be offered in May 2018 and September 2018 for the 2018 - 2019 season. May and September exams will be different, so students will have a second chance at admission in September if they do not pass an exam in May. Registration for these exams will begin in early spring; till then, the registration link has been removed.
Prospective students should review the description of each Group listed below. Please carefully select the most appropriate Group exam. We’ve posted past exam questions and solutions. You can find these on each Group’s webpage:
- Group A (USAMO / USAJMO level)
- Group I (9th -- 11th grades)
- Group L (7th -- 9th grades)
- Group S (7th -- 9th grades)
- Group Y (5th -- 7th grades)
Please note that as of Spring 2017 the take-home option for the Group A exam is no longer available. Students will have 3 hours to take the Group A exam in person.
Please note that as of the Fall 2018, exams for Groups S, L, I, and A will be mixed level exams. This allows students to take a look at exam questions for two adjacent levels to better determine their placement. For more information, please read here.
If you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com.
Exam location: The Speyer Legacy School, 925 Ninth Avenue @ 59th Street.
Prospective students are not expected to be able to solve every problem on the entrance exam, but they should submit solutions to as many problems as they can. Solutions should be written as clearly and as rigorously as possible. Complete solutions with correct reasoning will receive more points than merely correct answers. Partial credit will be given for incomplete solutions. Passing scores vary each year across Groups and from year to year.
Students who have not signed up online for an exam date will not be admitted to the test.
Students who pass the entrance exam will be contacted by email with an offer of admission into the program. Specific Group placement will be at the discretion of the program Directors.
Returning students are expected to take the entrance exam each year in order to continue attending the program.
The cost of the program is $225 per semester / $400 per year and is refundable after the first class.
Admitted students will receive an email regarding how to submit payment for the semester. For any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
