Kolya Malkin was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and grew up in Seattle. He has been interested in mathematics for as long as he can remember. As an undergraduate at the University of Washington, while remaining an enthusiastic mathematics student, he grew into an enthusiastic mathematics teacher. He was a principal instructor in University of Washington Math Circles and other classes, worked as a teaching assistant for summer programs and undergraduate courses, and was on the jury and problem-writing committee of the UW Math Olympiad. Kolya graduated from UW, magna cum laude with honors in Mathematics, in 2015, and is now a PhD student at Yale University. He joined Math-M-Addicts in 2015.
