Covid Protocols

All in-person students should review the Covid-19 protocols required by the Speyer School. Additionally, please be aware that these protocols can change through the year, and we ask families to remain flexible in such circumstances.

Vaccines:

All in-person students and teachers must be fully vaccinated to enter the school. We ask that students are dropped off and picked up outside Speyer. “Fully vaccinated” means at least two weeks have passed after an individual received a single dose of a vaccine that requires only one dose or the second dose in a two-dose series of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organization. Students who plan to attend in-person classes need to upload proof of vaccination by September 11, 2022, (September 16, 2022, for students admitted after September 10th) to be able to attend the program. Please upload a photo of your vaccination card via this form.

Testing:

All students and teachers must take a home test 24 hours prior to the first class. You do not need to submit the results but please follow the required protocols if you test positive.

We may require testing after major holidays or in case of multiple positive cases in a cluster. We also recommend that students test before coming to class if a household member has tested positive for Covid. The student will need to wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days if a household member has tested positive.

Quarantine/Exposure:

Speyer guidelines require 5-day isolation after testing positive for Covid. Students who test positive for Covid may return to school on Day 6.

Day 0: First day of symptoms or, if asymptomatic, the day of the test.

Day 1-5: Isolate

Day 6: A student may return to school on Day 6 if they are asymptomatic and have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If the student is still symptomatic and not feeling well, they should remain isolated until they are asymptomatic and fever-free as stated above.

Day 6-10: If returning to school, must wear a well-fitting mask indoors.

Masks:

Speyer maintains a mask-optional policy.

Please note:

  • Students and teachers who test positive for Covid may return to school on Day 6 and MUST wear a well-fitting mask through Day 10 of their isolation period.

  • Current guidance recommends that individuals identified as close contacts wear a mask for 10 days from the first day of exposure.

Staying Home When Sick:

While Speyer and MMA will enforce these protocols to help mitigate the spread of Covid, active support is required of all members of the community. We ask that each family and individual take responsibility for symptom monitoring, testing, and isolating when necessary.

The single most important tool to ensure community health and safety is for people to stay home if they are sick. If fever, runny nose, and congestion or coughing are evident, please stay home until symptoms subside, and test regularly for Covid. Many symptoms commonly associated with allergies, cold, or flu may be Covid. Please keep a supply of Covid tests on hand to use if symptoms arise or a family member has Covid.
